QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults and Children (QCF)
This regulated and nationally recognised qualification provides Learners with the necessary skills and knowledge needed to deal with an adult or child who requires basic life support in an emergency situation.
The QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults and Children (QCF) qualification has been designed for those who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities to provide basic life support for adults and children. It is also ideal for those who are qualified in providing first aid and are looking to refresh or develop their existing first aid knowledge and skills further.
During this half day course, Learners will be given the opportunity to practise essential basic life support procedures, including: assessing an incident, managing an unresponsive casualty, recovery position, CPR and choking. Successful Learners will receive a QA Level 2 Award in Basic Life Support for Adults and Children (QCF) certificate as well as a plastic aide memoire, both personalised with their Centre’s details.
In order to deliver this qualification, Centres will require a minimum of 1 Trainer and 1 Internal Quality Assurer (these cannot be the same person). Please refer to the Assessment Principles for Regulated First Aid Qualifications and the above Qualification Specification (pages 12-14) to check the Training/Assessing and Quality Assurance qualifications and occupational knowledge and competence required for these positions. Centres will also need to have appropriate policies, systems and procedures in place, as well as suitable and adequate venues, equipment and learning resources.
